Bridges over the River

The exhibition consists of artworks from a vast art project, representing, in a nutshell, a multi-year artistic endeavor.

The original outdoor exhibition has been held every summer for the past eight years, being shown on the bridges of Alexander Park, during the festival "Bridges over the River" produced annually bythe Regional Council of Emek Hefer. The exhibition takes place around two bridges: over the suspended "String Bridge" and its surroundings, and underneath a concrete bridge, constructed in 1937.

The exhibition consists of large prints, sculptures, three-dimensional installations, and video-art.

The two-dimensional images are produce in digital print and grouped into large triptychs of 2.5 m in length. They are mounted on PVC boards and hung over the rail of the suspended bridge and the walls of the concrete bridge, so they accompany the viewers marching along the bridges. The sculptures and installations are built of intriguing and visionary materials, and are scattered on the grass that covers the banks of the river.

The shows feature artists dealing with the tension between nature and culture, body and landscape, biology and technology.

The bridges connect and tie the two banks, one using iron and the other using concrete. They are functional and necessary elements but at the same time foreign and therefore generate anxiety; human technological achievement containing a constant fear of heights and a sense of danger.
